About Sirius Net Technologies

Sirius Net Technologies is an Australian consultancy specialising in Microsoft .NET, system integration, and process automation.

It is run by Burak Altin, who has been building software since 2005. Over twenty-one years he has worked on line-of-business systems in HR software, banking, insurance, health, IT asset management, real estate software, and legal — most of it the unglamorous middle of a business, where data has to move between systems that were never designed to talk to each other.

One of those was real estate. In 2021 he led the rebuild of a property management system — properties, contacts, the trust ledgers and the audit trail, and all the reporting over the top — from a legacy desktop application to the web, running the project alongside one other developer. It never went live: the owners didn't end up agreeing, and that was that. Months of build, and whether it shipped came down to something that had nothing to do with the software.

That is part of why Sirius Net now starts with a 60-minute diagnostic and a written report in three days rather than a proposal for a build. The shorter the distance between the money and something you can hold, the less there is to lose.

It is also why the work here is process automation rather than apps. Two decades of watching capable teams hand-carry information between systems is a fairly specific education in where the week goes.

Sirius Net is based on the Sunshine Coast and works with Australian clients in their own timezone — in person on the Sunshine Coast and in Brisbane, over video everywhere else — and is candid about what automation will and will not fix, including when a process is not worth automating at all.
